Jotun Makes It Three-In-A-Row For Lowe Malaysia Posted on

Kuala Lumpur, June 12, 2012
The Jotun Group has appointed Lowe Malaysia as its creative agency for Jotashield.
The appointment comes on the back of Lowe Malaysia being awarded duties for national
automobile giant PERODUA and beverage company Spritzer (for its Spritzer Tinge flavoured
water brand) last week, marking it three-wins-in-a-row for the agency.
Jotun is one of the world’s leading paint manufacturers specialising in marine, protection
and decorative coatings. The Jotashield brand was awarded to Lowe after a 5-way agency
selection for the new Jotashield exterior wall paint product – the first in the market that
fights colour fading.
Announcing the appointment, Mr. Chen Lee Siong, Regional Marketing Director, Decorative
Paints, SEA & China, Jotun (M) Sdn Bhd said, “After meeting five agencies, what stood out
from the presentation was Lowe’s combination of creative and business-focused solutions
for a wide range of brands, across different categories. We like how they come up with ideas
that inspire people to act. It’s exactly what we’re looking for, for Jotashield, and we’re
looking forward to seeing the work.”
“Exterior-paints are a fairly generic category, and not one that home owners engage often
with – a home owner typically looks at exterior paints once in 5 – 6 years. So product
involvement is rather low, and they depend strongly on their contractors, friends and family
for recommendations” said Lowe Malaysia Chairman, Khairudin Rahim, commenting on the
appointment.
He added, “The team at Lowe Malaysia has developed a very insightful brand idea which not
only resonates strongly with home owners and their influencers in the short terms but also
builds loyalty and endorsement over the longer term. The idea is integrated all the way from
screen to shelf, right through to purchase and beyond, while also keeping lines open with
contractors and building professionals.”
